Prayer for the Day from Michelle Vanderwater
Jesus said to her, "You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true." John 4:17
The Lie: Because I have been divorced and had other non-God-pleasing relationships, that I am not worthy of true forgiveness. That my sins are too great to be forgiven. That I must atone for my sins through doing good deeds for others. Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that He is the living water and that whoever drinks of it will never be thirsty again. This tells me that I don't have to "do" anything to be forgiven- I just have to believe. Prayer: Dear Jesus, Thank you so much for giving all of us your living water so that we can truly experience your forgiveness. Thank you for dying on the cross for us, so that we would have eternal life with you. Thank you for forgiving me of ALL of my sins. Help me to know that I don't have to do anything to receive your love. You love me as I am, with all of my sins and mixed up ways. Thank you Lord! Amen.
