Lenten Daily Devotional: Dana Stoerkel

Lenten Daily Family Devotions

Prayer for the Day from Dana Stoerkel
“I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you." Isaiah 44:22
THE LIE: Do you think about a choice or mistake you made in your past that affects how you live now? Something that made you think there is no way God could love me after this one. A choice that makes you think everyone would turn their backs on you if they only knew. Whether it be lying, cheating, stealing, sex before marriage, abortion, or anything else - Do you realize that although God made not have liked the choice you made, he knew you would make it before you did and already had his arms open to welcome you home again, and again and again. When you stop and say I screwed up, God says I’ve already forgiven and forgotten, it’s a new day and you are a new creation. No matter what choice we made in the past, no matter how “bad or horrible” we believe it was, God redeems us and calls us his own.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank you so much for redeeming me and setting me free from the bondage of my sin. I, in my human sinful self, am not worthy, but as a child of yours, you have redeemed me and mercifully have grace on me. Saving me and giving me hope and eternal life. Thank you for not holding my mistakes against me. Thank you for always always giving me and showing me your wonderful faithful and enduring love. Amen
