PRAYER FOR THE DAY FROM ASHLEY PHELPS
“Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:9-10
THE LIE: I'm not good enough.
I often find myself in a state of comparison. Comparing myself and my home to magazines, other women, or things in my head that I believe I should be. I can so easily convince myself that I am not good enough-- I can't always finish all of my tasks around the house, I get impatient with my kids and lose my temper, I don't make the perfect dinner for my kids and husband-- I'm just not as good as I should be. If I were a good enough wife, mother, leader, or musician things would always go smoothly. But the Lord reminds me time and time again that I am not just good enough to get by, I am more than enough because He created me with purpose. He handpicked me to be the mother to my three kids, and He knew just what kind of wife I would be. His plans for me are far greater than whether or not the laundry is done, my floors are clean or my kids look like they stepped out of a catalog. I am His daughter, and His love for me is not based on what I do, but who I am-- His child.
PRAYER: Lord, help me in my weakness when I choose to believe that I am not enough. You have called me Your child, and you created me with a specific intent. May I focus on the plans that You have for me, and not my own idea of what I need to do in order to be perfect. In Jesus Name, Amen.
