New Beginnings: Week 2

January 10, 2016 Preacher: Aaron Lytle Series: New Beginnings

Verse: Genesis 6,

New Beginnings: Week 2 - Genesis

TRUST & PATIENCE

9This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. 10Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. 12God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. 13So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!
14“Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out…
17“Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. 18But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 19Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood… 22So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him. —Genesis 6:9-14, 17-19, 22

3Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” —Genesis 6:3

Can you relate to Noah right now? Perhaps everything is falling apart around you.

TODAY, GOD IS INVITING YOU TO HAVE PATIENT ENDURANCE

TODAY IS A NEW DAY

22The faithful love of the lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
23Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
24I say to myself, “The lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”

25The lord is good to those who depend on him,
to those who search for him.
26So it is good to wait quietly
for salvation from the lord.
27And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline: —Lamentations 3:22-27

You are absolutely not smart enough to run your own life or the lives of others!

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
8It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. —Proverbs 3:5-7

13Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done!
They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. —Hebrews 12:1-2
