Learning Faith Over Time

We understand faith as something learned over time through belonging, listening, practice, everyday living, and walking with one another. Oikos is the Greek word for household or family. It reflects how we understand faith — not as something we achieve alone, but something we learn together over time.

Oikos Church is a spiritual family learning how to live the way of Jesus together. We believe faith is not something we master or complete. It is learned slowly — through Scripture, shared life, honest questions, and grace.

We are not a church built around programs or perfection. We are people being formed over time — imperfectly, patiently, together. At Oikos, belonging comes before believing, and grace comes before growth.

Families on Mission Together

An oikos (Greek: οἶκος / pronounced: OY - KOSS) is the ancient Greek equivalent of a household, house, or family. As families on mission together, OIKOS represents who we are and how we disciple others.

Belonging & Grace

We believe faith is not mastered or completed. It is received, practiced, questioned, and grown into — by grace.
At Oikos:
• Belonging comes before believing
• Grace comes before growth
• Questions are welcome
• Faith is not rushed

You don’t need to have everything figured out to be here.

Listening to God's Story

We believe Jesus invites us into a way of life, not just a set of ideas. Faith takes shape as we
learn how God’s story touches:
• Our relationships
• Our work and daily life
• Our suffering and joy
• Our love of neighbor

This kind of faith grows slowly, with patience and community.

Practicing Faith Together

Life at Oikos is shaped less by programs and more by shared practices. We learn faith
through:
• Worship and Scripture
• Prayer and reflection
• Shared meals and conversation
• Walking with one another through life

There is no single path everyone must follow. We walk together, at different paces.

Living Faith in Everyday Life

We believe mission is not a program to join, but a way of life we learn. Missional living means learning to notice where God is already at work — in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, and relationships.

We don’t go out as experts. We go as learners shaped by grace.

Our Foundation

Oikos Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. We are rooted in the Holy Scriptures and the historic Lutheran Confessions, which help us clearly confess what we believe, teach, and practice.

Walking Together Over Time

Wherever you are on the journey — curious, cautious, confident, or uncertain — you are welcome here.
