Generosity by Abrianna Lytle

Generosity
By Abrianna Lytle, age 10

Generosity is a great trait to have. Lessons from the Bible show us that if you are generous, great things will come your way. One particular story really pops in my mind, which is "The Widow and Her Last Two Coins." The Bible shares this event like this:

One church day a poor widow that lost her husband came with her two last coins. Many people were there, and most of the people had big sacks of gold in their hands. When it was time for the offerings, the people with big sacks would pay a small portion of their money. The widow, however, dropped her two last coins into the offering box. Jesus was there, and he saw what the widow had done.

He shouted, “This poor woman had only two coins left, and you have sacks full of money. She gave all she had, so she will be blessed."

Like I said, when you are generous great things will come your way. But since we are full of sin, giving away all of your money is hard. I know this because before we put Zach’s, Aaliyah’s, and my money in storage, we would only put $1 into the offering box. Not just $1 for each of us, but $1 for all of us. And we had about $320 in our piggy bank. This wasn’t very generous of us. And I guess we just didn’t want to lose our money, kind of like the people in my story that had a lot of money just like us.

But even though we are full of sin, God will always love us. And soon when we get our money out of storage we will work on our generosity. And I hope this message will be inspiring to you too.
