Lenten Daily Family Devotions

Prayer for the Day:
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
The Lie: One of the biggest fears we often face is the fear of death. We often think of death as the end. We worry about death and we even try to plan for it by making wills and other extensive plans so that loved ones are taken care of after we have passed away. Sylvia and I have walked alongside many of our family and friends during their last days of living on this Earth. Even as Christians, it is painful to lose a loved one and our hearts break. As Christians, we need not worry about what will happen to us after this earthly life ends. We know, in fact, we will live again with Jesus and all the faithful departed because Jesus died and rose again on that first Easter, so we too know we will live with him in heaven one day. We need not fear death because of what Christ has done for you and me. We look forward to life everlasting in heaven with Jesus!
Prayer: Dear God, you are omnipotent and the ruler of all things on earth and in heaven. We ask for your forgiveness when we falter and doubt your resurrection. We take comfort in the promise of life eternal with you and one day joining all the saints in heaven who have departed in the faith. Thank you, God, for sending your Son, Jesus Christ into this World to save us from our sins so we can have eternal life with you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen. -Nelson Schmidt
